The Capital Region Frassati Chapter

WHO ARE WE?

We are a group of Catholic young adults who seek to grow in faith, friendship and understanding through weekly meetings, regular prayer together, and frequent social and service gatherings.  We come from many parishes across the Albany Diocese and beyond, and seek this weekly fellowship to grow in faith and in community.  We are students, professionals, married and single.  We welcome visitors from the clergy and religious life to join us in fellowship and prayer.

We also welcome visitors to the area, college and graduate students from near or far, Catholics as well as any young adults curious about the Catholic faith.

Our weekly meetings consist of prayer, scripture reading and discussion, and special topics.  We are always grateful for the hospitality of our friends at St. Francis Chapel in Wolf Rd. Shoppers Park, the Friars of Siena College, and we pray for their intentions as well.

We operate under the spiritual patronage of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, a 3rd order Dominican whose cause for sainthood is open and under consideration by the Catholic Church.  Pier Giorgio was a devout, joyful, diligent young Italian man.  He was a student, an outdoorsman, a family man, a helper of the poor, a charismatic and beloved friend.  Frassati’s love for Christ was the source of his caritas for his fellow man.  We seek to imitate his joyful holiness in a world that desperately needs God, joy, and holiness.

Join us on Wednesdays!

Our “Young Adult Night Out” Series:

What:

A night out with area young adults in a relaxed atmosphere with dinner, drinks, and a talk with Q&A on a topic of universal relevance.

Who:

Night Out is for any young adult (18-39 yrs) interested in matters of the intellect, the spiritual, the true & good & beautiful.  Capital Region Frassati Chapter is a fellowship of Catholic young adult, but our Night Out events are a great opportunity for non-Catholics, lapsed Catholics, and anyone curious about deeper questions of meaning to socialize or simply come listen to an interesting talk.  We welcome all.

Where:

Brown’s Brewing Company, 147 River Street, Troy, NY

When:

7-10pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Why:

Because all of us, regardless of faith (or no faith) background have a deep-seated desire for freedom and love.  Understanding the nature of freedom can be the first step in identifying one’s purpose, and beginning a journey toward fulfillment.

Because young adults, often in a transient state of life, desire connection and community, but often find it difficult to encounter depth, friendship, and meaning amidst our frenzied schedules and the messages of what matters most in life.

Because practicing Catholic young adults often struggle to find and meet each other in a parish context where families and other groups may seem better “plugged-in,” while the college-age to mid-30’s age bracket might slip through the cracks.

Why come to a NIGHT OUT?

  • Hear from a fantastic local priest in a relaxed environment
  • Socialize & connect with other area young adults who are seeking Truth
  • Learn about, rediscover or sharpen your understanding of Catholic teaching and thought
  • Non-Catholics are welcome!
